Role
The Edmund Burke Foundation does not produce academic research in the traditional sense; its primary function is convening. The NatCon conferences it organizes are the major venue where thinkers, politicians, journalists, and activists from the nationalist right’s various factions come together. NatCon 4 (July 2024, Washington D.C.) marked the movement’s arrival in the Republican mainstream, with JD Vance and other senior politicians on the program.
Field notes that the Foundation’s proximity to the Hard Right — via Hazony’s appearance at Paul Gottfried’s H.L. Mencken Club — raises questions about the movement’s willingness to draw meaningful lines between National Conservatism and white nationalism.
