Witherspoon publishes Public Discourse and has incubated much of the academic infrastructure linking traditional Catholic natural-law thought, originalist legal theory, and the postliberal turn. Figures associated with the Witherspoon/George ecosystem — Hadley Arkes, Princeton-trained legal scholars, Adrian Vermeule (in his earlier originalist phase) — represent the older fusionist conservative-legal world that the New Right is partly extending and partly disowning.

The Witherspoon network helped seed Declarationism’s academic legitimacy via the Bradford-Jaffa debate genealogy (Beyond Originalism).
